This website exists to help build up the Body of Christ by teaching the Word of God in a manner which encourages Christian growth. Consequently, the name: EdifiedLiving. There is always a need for sound Bible teaching. Hopefully, you will add this site to your resources.
All publications presented here are based on a belief the Bible is God’s inerrant, complete and only revelation to mankind. With this conviction, all analysis focuses on evaluating the literal meaning of what is written. Initially, this approach includes following the storyline of a passage within its context. Interpretation can also be influenced by facts gained from other pertinent Scripture as well as information derived from the history of biblical times. In addition, commentary may be augmented by concepts communicated in the original languages God used to deliver His message. Finally, proper application of truth learned from any passage is made only after considering the audience for whom it was intended.
Topics are covered such as Salvation, Christian Living, Significant Doctrines, Verse by Verse Exposition and more. Some pieces are technical; others take a lighter approach. There should be something to pique the interest of practically everyone interested in Bible study. The goal is to present teaching based on what Scripture says, not tradition. For, our beliefs should be founded on the divine truths contained in His Word.
Coupled with this objective, all can profit from the wisdom of Martin Luther. A year before his death, he reluctantly agreed to the publication of his writings even though he considered them vastly inferior when compared with Scripture. But, because his contemporaries were going to distribute them regardless of his desire, he decided to allow it along with a warning for believers not to equate his writings with God’s Word. His cautionary preface includes the statement, “for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ Himself to read those things (his writings) judiciously, yes, with great commiseration.”1 All Bible teachers should have this same high regard for God’s revelation, while humbly recognizing we as men simply make our best attempt to share biblical truth. With this in mind, these publications are submitted for your consideration with the hope they will help you progress on your journey of becoming complete in Christ.
